The organizers of a planned rally to support State Senator Daniel A. Wolf (D - Harwich), who was poised to resign tomorrow, has been canceled.

Susan Truitt of Osterville was assembling Cape Cod residents to protest a Massachusetts Ethics Commission ruling that Sen. Wolf, as CEO of Cape Air, was inelgibile to serve in the Legislature or run for governor, but this afternoon she announced that the rally was canceled.

Ms. Truitt shared a letter sent by Sen. Wolf to constituents, which said the commission had granted his request for an extension of his 30-day appeal period to September 19, when the commission next meets, and he planned to remain in office until the commission issues a final ruling.

"We do not have a victory for those of us who think the Commission’s ruling is wrong. But we do have the beginning of what could be a sensible solution. Now is not the time for more heat," Ms. Truitt said of her decision to cancel the rally.
