A man in his late 40s was found dead in Eel River near the Seacoast Shores peninsula in East Falmouth yesterday afternoon.
Cape and Islands First Assistant District Attorney Michael Trudeau said state police are assisting Falmouth police with the investigation into the death of the man, whom he did not identify, pending notification of his next of kin.
“Preliminary indications would suggest that there was no sign of foul play,” Mr. Trudeau said.
The man is believed to be from Falmouth or Mashpee, he said. He said he expected a report from the state medical examiner later today regarding the cause of death.
Falmouth police received a report of a body in the water in the marsh grass near the shore along Edgewater Drive West on Seacoast Shores in East Falmouth at 1:58 PM.
Falmouth Fire Rescue also responded and confirmed that the man was dead.
Falmouth Harbor Master Gregg P. Fraser said state police investigators contacted his office to confirm that there were no stray boats in the area.
