A man from Carver suffering from Alzheimer’s was found safe and sound in Falmouth several hours after his family reported him missing.
Wendell Rowe, 82, left his Carver home Tuesday with his wife and dropped her off at the Walmart in Plymouth around 7:30 PM. Information released by the Carver Police Department stated that he contacted his wife around 8:10 PM and said he was en route, but never arrived at the store.
Carver police issued a notice Wednesday morning, and later that morning the Falmouth Police Department issued a press release announcing that Mr. Rowe had been located in town.
Lieutenant Brian L. Reid said employees of Fiddler’s Cove Marina found Mr. Rowe on the property Wednesday morning and contacted his family, who mistakenly traveled to Yarmouth instead of Falmouth.
Coincidentally, Patrolman Jamie Livingston was in Yarmouth Wednesday morning on an unrelated police matter when Mr. Rowe’s relatives knocked on her cruiser window to ask directions to Fiddler’s Cove Marina.
Ptl. Livingston relayed the information to the Falmouth Police Department, and Patrolman Kevin Kinsella was dispatched to the marina, where he met with the employees and found Mr. Rowe with them, and in good condition. Ptl. Livingston escorted Mr. Rowe’s relatives back to Falmouth to pick the man up and take him home.
