Meeting Between Residents, NStar Postponed
By: Michael C. Bailey
State Representative David T. Vieira (R - Falmouth) announced yesterday afternoon that a meeting scheduled for tomorrow night, a discussion between NStar and residents of Hatchville, has been postponed.
A new date has not been set.
Rep. Vieira was set to moderate the meeting involving members of the grassroots organization the Hatchville Citizens Alliance and representatives from NStar’s Transmission Division and its contractor, Vegetation Control Services, to talk about the utility company’s work in Hatchville clearing trees and brush from its right-of-ways around power transmission lines.
Residents oppose the work on the basis that NStar is being too aggressive in its efforts, in effect clear-cutting a wide swath of land residents have dubbed the “Great Slash,” which in some cases has spilled over onto their personal properties.
